Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions - we have answers!
How long does Semi-Permanent Make up lasts?
Cosmetic tattooing is designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment colour affect the longevity of the tattoo.
Generally it can last from 1 to 3 years.
The sun and some kinds of lighting (tanning beds) can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. To take care of your brows follow the aftercare instructions and touch-up your brows every 12-18 months (as needed). Touch-ups are normal and expected for Permanent Cosmetics.
Please note that final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A touch-up appointment is recommended at 6-8 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary.
Does it hurt ?
The level of discomfort during PMU procedure can vary from person to person. The beginning of tattooing may feel slightly uncomfortable. The numbing cream will be applied to minimise discomfort.
How long does procedure last?
The semi-permanent make up procedure usually lasts approximately 3-3,5h
What is the healing process?
As soon as your procedure is finished your skin will prepare to heal. The skin will begin close and in a few days you may notice a thin crust - this will protect the area whilst the top layers of the skin fully heals. It is very important not to pick or pull the scabs as it will result in colour loss and/or infection. Around day 4-5 the crust will start to flake away revealing the pigment. You may initially see a lighter hue of implanted colour. This will change and settle over the next 4-6 weeks. In some cases a true healed colour cannot be seen for up to 3 months. Clients should understand the final healed result will look different to the initial tattooed treatment where the eyebrows/lips will be softer and less defined.
How many appointments will I need?
To achieve the best results you should attend two appointments, your initial treatment and a top up (usually in 6-8 weeks) for eyebrows. Lips top-up is recommended after minimum 8 weeks.
